Huckle Ecology was formed by Jon Huckle as a small, independent ecological consultancy based near Diss on the Norfolk-Suffolk Border, but operating nationally throughout England, Wales and Scotland. We have extensive practical experience of all UK habitats and ecosystems.

Our aim is to provide innovative and expert ecological services that deliver pragmatic solutions to environmental problems at extremely reasonable rates.

Who We Are

Huckle Ecology is owned and led by Dr Jon Huckle CEnv MCIEEM MSc BSc (Hons).

Jon has over 20 yrs experience working as a professional ecologist, and since 2002 has been working as an ecological consultant for a number of different organisations, including a large multi-disciplinary consultancy, as well as smaller specialist ecological consultancies. As Ecology Technical Director, he has been responsible for running a large team of ecologists, managing ecological projects large and small, and has acted as an expert witness for ecological issues at a number of planning inquiries.

Prior to the world of consultancy, Jon studied for a PhD at the University of Liverpool, working on the applied ecology of salt marshes in the Dee Estuary, before undertaking post-doc research on invasive non-native species. Jon is a Full Member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environment Management and adheres to its code of professional conduct in his work as a professional ecologist. He is also a Chartered Environmentalist and vice-convenor of the East of England Section of CIEEM.

Philosophy

Ecology, biodiversity and the natural world have always been an important part of my life - providing inspiration, fascination and joy in equal measure.
As an ecological consultant I strongly believe that there is always a solution to any environmental problem and my experience has taught me that in many cases, that with a bit of lateral thinking, ecological 'problems' can often be turned into opportunities.
